Traditional, Powerful & Gentle Healing
Reiki (Ray'-key) is an extraordinarily powerful and gentle Japanese energy healing technique. The word "reiki" means "universal energy" or "life energy."
In oriental medicine, the animating and organizing energy that flows through living things is called chi or qi. In Japan, it is called ki. Reiki is a unique and strong way of connecting to this life energy, also called source energy, for the purpose of healing. Today, there are many different types of Reiki practitioners. Usui Reiki practitioners are trained according to a time-intensive tradition, are dedicated to cultivating their skills over time, and have active learning relationships with their teachers. Usui Reiki training includes what is called a traditional attunement where practitioners learn how to access source energy. Like any profession, skill and ability can vary greatly between practitioners, regardless of level or certificate. A practitioner's ability to use Reiki for healing is largely dependent upon how they were trained and how dedicated they are to cultivating their practice.
Reiki is not a religion, nor is it associated with any religion, although it complements all religions and spiritual or health practices. Reiki is ethical and safe. Reiki is accessible to all people from all backgrounds. Reiki is gentle and yet powerful. It works only to heal - it cannot do any harm. You do not have to believe anything for Reiki to work. During a treatment session, you simply relax. If relaxation is difficult for you, your practitioner will walk you through some breathwork and relaxation techniques. What is Reiki For?
Reiki energy is healing to all living beings, including plants and animals. Reiki is especially effective at treating cancer, pain syndromes, tumors, depression, anxiety, and other complex disease. Many nurses are Reiki practitioners and have been granted permission by their hospitals to practice Reiki on duty. While science cannot explain exactly how Reiki works, it is clear that Reiki energy is beneficial and not harmful in any way - it promotes true and powerful multi-dimensional healing.
Reiki is most often used for physical and emotional healing, but it also effectively promotes healing of personal relationships, resolution of conflict, and encourages abundance. Many have found Reiki to be useful in their personal self-growth and
self-actualization practices.
Reiki energy can be used alone or in conjunction with other medicines and treatments. It is a powerful complement to biomedicine, natural medicine, and acupuncture. The power of Reiki is that it brings life-supporting, organizing energy into the body. The benefits of bringing vitalizing energy into an energy-deficient system are innumerable. Reiki is the only form of energy medicine that can do this in a powerful, consistent way. As "universal life energy," Reiki serves to create the highest good healing outcome in any situation.
