What is an attunement?
Reiki attunements, or empowerments, clear dysfunctional energetic holding patterns and awaken innate healing abilities.
Today, there are many options for Reiki attunements and even many "brands" of Reiki. It's silly. Chiyu Center is not interested in branding or starting any movements, unless of course, that movement is an individual movement towards learning about yourself, your own journey here, and how you fit in with everything else. As you grow and heal, you help others to heal. It is that simple.
Attunements at Chiyu Center are unique in that they honor the principles set by the Reiki Alliance for Traditional Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki. Far from being limiting, the choice to honor the tradition provides a solid, fertile earth on which each student's understanding can blossom, drawing parallels to other healng traditions and tying in present-day and individual experiences. Reiki I attunements at Chiyu Center are not auditorium affairs. Each class is private, only for 2-3 students. As per tradition, Reiki I requires 2 consecutive 4-6 hour days, a total of 4 attunement sessions over the weekend. While there are some places that offer condensed versions of the Reiki I attunement, even offering Reiki I & II together in the same weekend, it is important to realize that this acceleration is merely a reflection of a fast-food and on-demand society, and it is like the difference between sitting down to a meal and going through the drive-through. To be frank, it is simply impossible to receive the full Reiki I & Reiki II attunements in one weekend workshop unless you short-cut or remove something from the original tradition. While there are many places that offer abbreviated training, Chiyu Center chooses not to be one of them. Erika has made this choice consciously because Reiki is not about 'more-more-more', or doing things fast and cheap, or about goals, collecting titles, or certificates. It is about being present for a rich and illuminating experience.
Attunements at Chiyu Center are often felt to be sacred, spiritual experiences. As such, the focus is individualized, one-on-one, with plenty of time and attention to foster connection and understanding. The intention for attunements at Chiyu Center is for you to learn to use this energy in a way naturally unique to you. Receiving an attunement is like being given a key - it is up to the holder of the key to carry it wisely. A manual cannot teach anyone how to use Reiki anymore than a manual can teach a musician to play beautifully. For this reason, Erika is glad to make herself available to meet with her students one-on-one as they seek to develop their intution, understanding, and wisdom. After all, this is life - not a weekend workshop.
Reiki First Degree (Reiki I / Shoden Attunement)
As a Reiki I practitioner, you will be able to effectively treat yourself, others, and send distance energy healing. According to the tradition, a Reiki I attunement opens connectivity with universal life energy and the ability to use energy for healing by 300 times. First degree is a workshop held over any 2 consecutive days, 4-6 hours per day. During the first day of First degree, we explore what Reiki is and the history of Reiki, and you will receive the first 2 attunement sessions. The second day of First degree holds 2 more attunement sessions as well as more practical information about how to use Reiki. The discussion portion of the class is semi-private, for 2-3 students only. The attunement sessions are conducted privately, one-on-one in a separate room. Everything is done according to tradition. Erika is happy to explain the reasons behind the traditions, as well as to consider difficult questions.
Both days are required for Reiki I attunement, a total of 4-6 hours each day. Plenty of snacks and refreshments are provided, as well as a notebook for taking notes. Books are available for reference during the course (attendees may purchase a reference book if desired.) A beautiful certificate suitable for framing is offered upon completion of the second day.
Cost: $250, due on the first day of the attunement. Reiki I attunements are scheduled upon request and posted to the calendar unless already filled. Second Degree Reiki is for those who desire to become more closely connected with Reiki healing energy. This level is a great amplification of Reiki healing power, traditionally said to open one's connection to the energy by 600 times. Reiki II is a truly profound experience. It is a recommended for those who wish to use Reiki in a public service healing capacity. It is also a very powerful tool for personal transformation.
During Second degree, students experience the Second degree attunement session and are instructed in three symbols that continue to clear and open their energy fields, profoundly deepening their ability to partner with energy. At Chiyu Center, Reiki II attunements are limited to 2 students but are often held one-on-one. As per tradition, there is a 3-month minimum waiting time between First and Second degree to allow students the opportunity to practice and open to receiving the next level. Plenty of snacks and refreshments are provided and attendees are encouraged to bring back their notebook for this second course. Reiki II is held over two non-consectuive days. The second day is scheduled after completion of the first day (which is why it does not appear on the calendar). A beautiful Second degree Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki certificate is offered on the second day, after the new Reiki II practitioner demonstrates a minimum level of understanding of the symbols. Reiki Master Deciding to receive the Reiki Master attunement and training is a big decision. Reiki Master Training will literally transform your life. The Masters training is described as amplifying your ability to work with the healing energy by 10,000 times. It is the culmination of attunements and is in keeping with the wisdom of ancient cultures and traditions. In the Usui Shiki Ryoho tradition, there is no level higher than Reiki III... everything beyond Reiki III is your own personl cultivation.
The Third degree attuenment facilitates great shifts and growth. It is a highly valuable experience on many levels. It is both a continuation and the beginning of a series of exponential connections, challenges and transformations.
During the Third degree training, you will learn how to do attunements. According to the tradition, at least one year must pass after Second degree before you may pursue Third degree. In acknowledgment of the power of this training, the cost of Masters training is traditionally set at $10,000.
